Yesterday was King’s Day in The Netherlands (celebration in honor of the King’s birthday). For the holiday it’s customary to wear the color of the dutch royal family – orange – as you party through the cities. While this orange sweater was not the right hue it was a fun festive top for a day spent celebrating!
This orange sweater is awesome — adding the perfect flare to any outfit. BUT it’s standout features make it hard to style. The first time I wore it (here) I styled it with jeans and sneakers and this time I wanted to do something totally different. While I normally wouldn’t pair orange and black (cause it’s not halloween) I made an exception — I figured it counts as a costume! The BRIGHT orange of the sweater was perfect paired against the LOUD gingham print. And wearing it knotted up into a crop with the ruffle sleeves made me feel like the Chiquita Banana Girl. You can bet I shimmied my way around those music filled streets of The Hague.
What did you do yesterday – on King’s Day? Let me know in the comments.
