Today Try It Tuesday is going to be about trying something to empower yourself. Whatever that something is is up to you, anything you feel you need to empower yourself. For me it is going to be taking on a Jeans Cleanse for one week.  And I know one week seems short, but jeans are a regular part of my style diet. So one week is going to seem like an eternity! the purpose of this jeans cleanse is to get me to stop body shaming myself. And to do this I feel I need to cut out the one item in my close that gets me down the most.



A little background. . .


Within the past 2 years I have put on an extra 10 lbs. Which doesn’t seem like that much, but on a 5’2″ frame it shows. It shows the most in my butt and thighs, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I loved my skinny self, but always wanted a little more bottom curves…and now I have them! (I am trying to slim down a bit through healthy diet and exercise, but do not want to be back to how I was) While I am actually satisfied with a little extra weight it has caused clothing to not fit as well straight off the rack (which was never an issue before). I am learning this is quite normal, but with only my prior 23 years experience it is disheartening to try something on and it not look good.

The biggest fit issues I encounter are with jeans. The size I need to fit my butt and thighs is too large for my waist/calves and jeans that fit my waist/calves won’t come past my butt. It is the most frustrating thing I have ever encountered. And instead of feeling great and comfortable in my jeans I am unhappy with what I see in the mirror and start to critique my body. Even though I can stand naked in the mirror and LOVE my figure. Instead of finding fault with the clothing (jeans) I begin to find fault in my new found curves, and start to wish my old body back.

The Challenge. . .


So what else do you do with something causing negativity in your life? You cut it out! So this with Try it Tuesday all about trying to do something good for yourself I am going to cut jeans from the equation — A Jeans Cleanse. Because what is style if its not making you feel confident! In this next week’s attempt to not wear a pair of jeans, I hope that I can gain a little more acceptance for my body and that boost of self confidence I need to be satisfied with the way I look. I want to gain perspective and realize that nothing is wrong with my body, but something is wrong with the clothing if it is not fitting properly and displaying my body beautifully!
